One thing that makes the art of floral design a remarkable profession is the fact that flowers have the incredible power to tap into people’s emotions in many different ways. Flowers bring us joy, comfort, and peace. They can also express our deepest love, gratitude, and sympathy.

Sympathy or funeral floral designs are a beautiful way to honour deceased loved ones as well as express sympathy to the bereaved. Similarly, some designs are made to bring out the deceased’s personality or the theme of the funeral service. We had a brief chat with German floral artist Nadine Siegert of Blumen Siegert about some exceptional sympathy arrangements she’d made recently using our Naomi Roses, and also a little bit about All Saints Day in Germany.

The Florist

In a previous conversation, we highlighted that Nadine has been a master in the art since 2003, and now steers a business that was initiated by her parents back in 1980. Since taking over the shop in 2007, she has maintained an undying love for flowers and simply describes this deep affection towards flowers as the single most important gem that describes their style.

The Art

During our previous chat, Nadine mentioned how quality was a huge deal when it came to flower choice. “We are always looking for the best flowers, especially with funeral wreaths. I believe Porta Nova Red Naomi is the best variety!”

All of their workpieces are made on Oasis Floral Foam backing. “I prefer the Premium, both in terms of strength and water supply. Many of our customers have special black grave soil on All Saints Day and the Porta Nova White Naomi is a beautiful contrast to this dark earth making it quite popular. The Porta Nova Naomi roses are a smart choice because mainly because of their beauty and their durability.

All Saints Day (Allerheiligen)

In Germany, November 1st is All Saints Day. It is a public holiday in Bavaria, Baden-Würtemberg, Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate. On this day, families meet at the cemetery after Church service to share memories and remember their deceased loved ones.

“Many customers appreciate giving the family grave a unique and special beautification on All Saints Day. My customers buy a lot of white and green for All Saints Day. No matter whether it’s a wreath, bouquet or heart.
