Ivana Spinelli is known for how she brings to life the raw joys of romance through her wedding floral presentations. One of her recent works was a beach wedding on the sun-kissed sandy Italian shores where she used Porta Nova red naomi roses as her main flower. She shares with us about Italian beach weddings and how she skillfully executed Luigia and Gianluca special day.
How would you describe a typical Italian beach wedding and why are they becoming so popular?
Italy has experienced an upsurge of beach weddings in recent years. Quite a number of couples dream of a wedding by the sea as they wish to experience all the possible beautiful emotions on the most special day of their lives. The feeling of freedom one gets on the beach and the colors of the sea are the main components of such a ceremony.
The sea has a unique way of making weddings more fascinating, evocative and full of romance. Couples can choose to have a daytime experience where the sun gives the sea a nice bright blue glow or an evening experience where the sunset paints the sky with colors that will leave you breathless.
What role do flowers and roses in particular play in beach weddings?
A stunning location like an Italian beach needs very few decorations. A floral designer has to study the location perfectly in order not to ruin its natural enchantment by changing the context to overly elegant and formal. Ceremonies of this type must be intimate and romantic. In preparing floral decoration for a wedding at the beach, the designer should help create an atmosphere that enhances the beauty of the landscape. The rose is certainly the perfect choice since it not only fits well into the scenery but is also a great expression of love and passion.
What designs, arrangements and materials did you integrate into this beach wedding?
Luigia and Gianluca contacted me and entrusted me with the entire floral arrangement for their beach wedding. The first thing they asked for was to have Luigia’s favorite color in the background: RED. Once I had chosen the color and the main flower type for the event, Porta Nova red naomi emerged as the perfect choice. I designed the floral arrangement opting for essential compositions that conveyed lightness and freshness. With prevalence of red and white in contrast with the green of the foliage.
How many roses colored this gorgeous beach wedding and what was the reaction from the couple and their guests?
About 200 Porta Nova red naomi roses were used for the entire decoration. The roses were the top choice and were received fresh and beautiful. In all my creations, the quality and freshness of raw materials coupled with the scenery and good management in executing the job is what makes the difference. At the end of it all, the newlyweds were able to physically see a manifestation of what was initially something they had only imagined. Guests were stunned by the beauty of the floral compositions which blended well with the beautiful location to give life to an exciting and spectacular ceremony.
From a floral designer’s point of view, what makes Porta Nova red naomi roses perfect for weddings.
The Red Naomi has a truly unique charm and a perfect shape. You can count on the rose to enhance a suggestive and romantic setting but at the same time set the context to very glamorous and trendy.
Is there any advice you give spouses with regards to wedding arrangements?
It is important to listen and speak to the spouses as many times as possible and ask them specific questions about their personality and their desires. That way I can understand perfectly what they want and consequently what to advise. If you are a romantic, passionate person who loves the traditional and simple style… I can only recommend Porta Nova RED NAOMI!
